Meet our BASW Intern, Joline Yueh
Get to know Joline (she/her), our new BASW Intern. We asked her 10 questions to help us get to know her better. Check out what she said below!

What is your role with the Service Board?
I am the BASW intern from the UW School of Social Work. I help assist the team with outreach and anything they need with program nights or volunteer training. I hope to learn a lot about both the behind-the-scenes and the frontline work of a non-profit organization and be able to apply the knowledge from my studies into practice.

What is your favorite thing about your job?
I am very looking forward to getting to know the team better and being able to see everyone in each of their roles. I am also very excited to see our youth in action during our program months.

What do you like to do outside of work?
I binge-watch a lot of crime or comedy shows in my free time and I love doing fun group activities with my friends like cooking or baking. And I am pretty much always down to do any task involving a dog.

What motivates you?
The knowledge and experience that a social work curriculum can give me the tools to help make change either on a personal or professional level. And to work with people who have the same goals for this world that I do.

If you could pick one superpower, what would it be?
I am a big Marvel nerd, and although he is not my favorite Avenger I would love to have the powers of Dr. Strange.

What kind of music do you listen to?
I listen to a lot of pop or r&b, a little hip hop, and punk and I always love a good throwback song.

What’s something about you that surprises people?
People never seem to believe me when I tell them that I lived in China for 16 years and only moved to the United States permanently about 5 years ago. I am also a really open person even to people who I have just met, they just need to instigate a conversation with me.

What are your top three favorite foods?
I am always in the mood for french fries! I also love fried rice and pretty much any type of pasta.

Open-minded, trusting, and very indecisive.
