This was another successful tSB winter introducing our youth (and a few mentors) to the incredible sport of snowboarding and we want to celebrate the end of the season with you. Come to Poquitos on Capitol Hill this Monday, May 12 from 3-8pm. There will be a pig in the ground, music from DJ Mullet and great company. Ninkasi sales benefit tSB and we are also raffling off tons of gear from our friends in the snow industry as well as two three-day passes to the Capitol Hill Block Party and four weekend passes (plus camping!) to Timber! Outdoor Music Festival. You could even go home with shot ski of your own. Bring your friends and celebrate with tSB.
Caitlan Grassi is a Cherry lifesaver for tSB Staff! She has spent numerous hours cleaning and organizing our gear basement spent days in our office inputting data and making thank you cards, and has been a go-to server at our events. When in doubt we know we can rely on her.
Caitlan quietly gets things done but tSB notices!
We love you Caitlan for rolling up your sleeves and doing whatever we need–especially the smiles.
Thank you for being a volunteer shoulder that we can lean on!
Last week’s Soiree was the largest and most successful event in our history. The generosity of our community overwhelmed us, this support gives us an incredible opportunity to grow and continue to improve our programs. Thank you to everyone that made the event happen and joined us in celebration!
We’re feeling really refreshed and loved at the tSB office today after a successful Soirée last week. Big shout out to our Peer Leaders (second-year tSBers) for their phenomenal energy and presence!
Thursday evening was graced with the signature Seattle rain: a dripping ocean from an icy gray sky with gusts of chilly wind between the drops. In the midst of the pelting downpour, within the shelter of warm velvety walls in the Georgetown Ballroom, was an epic event readying to unfold.
The smell of salty popcorn, corn dog hors d’oeuvres, and cotton candy circulated the room as youth tSBand, Smooth Technique, jammed out R&B and jazz tunes onstage. tSB youth were out and about, mingling and handling all the details to make sure the night ran smoothly, from the neatly folded napkins to the perfected heartfelt speeches about how tSB changed them as young adults. An aerialist danced in the air, our clown photographer Desiree (tSB alumnae!) snapped stills, and Patrick Wrights‘ circus-themed was spammed with happy faces as dapper youth and mentors served platters of food by The Leary Traveler.
It was a great night to remember with heartfelt stories from the youth about how tSB has changed them as young adults, and a perfect opportunity for the them to mingle with the community whose support made it all possible. The soiree truly was a tSB family-made effort, and we appreciate everyone who attended and contributed to another year dedicated to pushing growing edges.
Dynamic Duo, PL Baati and mentor Aldrin!
If you missed it, tSB is here year round! Check out the photos from the photo booth and Desiree Gross, and a clip made by the tSB youth for you!
On Thursday, November 17th at 6pm, tSB will celebrate its 16th birthday in carnival style at the Georgetown Ballroom. Guests will enjoy beer, wine and dinner provided by The Leary Traveler, as well as a short circus-themed program that highlights the work tSB has done this year.
There will be a silent auction and a live ROCKTION with rocktioneer Rick Friel featuring incredible items, music performed by the crooners of tSB’s alumni band, Smooth Technique, and a chance for you to see first-hand how this organization transforms the lives of Seattle-area youth through snowboarding, public service and a curriculum of social justice.
Our silent auction and live rocktion include some of these delightful items:
Private dinners from some of Seattle’s most talented chefs
Helicopter rides and packages for swanky local hotels
An autographed Gibson guitar
Pat Wright’s photo booth at your next party
Incredible art from local talent
Outerwear kits, lift tickets and boot warmers: everything you need for your own mountain adventures
