For nearly 30 years, the Service Board (tSB), a youth-led organization, has created culturally relevant programs for high school-aged youth from historically marginalized communities. tSB addresses access and opportunity gaps for BIPoC and low-income communities by offering mentorship, community service, and outdoor recreation centered around snowboarding.
In 2024, our programming aimed to support the liberation, long-term resilience, and health of BIPoC youth and young adults in King County through civic engagement, leadership development, and free or low-no-cost access to nature and outdoor sports, all through a social justice leans.
From January through May 2024, Core Program (CP) gave youth the opportunity to experience:
- 62+ hours of snowboarding trips
- 16+ hours of service in the community
- 28+ hours of social justice workshops (CP)
- 100+ hours of summer outdoor & environmental justice workshops
- 40+ hours of Peer Leadership training
- 50+ hours of other tSB sponsored activities & events
- Total: Almost 300 hours in community
