Being a Wintern at tSB so far this season has been a lot of fun. It’s a more similar experience to my time as a Peer Leader than I was expecting, but it definitely has the feel of a different, more mature and autonomous, role.
As a Wintern, I have been focusing on helping out and working behind the scenes with logistics and more organizational aspects. Among many things I’ve learned how to load the snowboards into the bus, and even had the opportunity to hot wax my own board which was really fun and something I had never done before!
As a Peer Leader I was very much at the forefront of the program, leading and planning workshops etc. but as a Wintern it has been fascinating to learn about everything that goes into program and everything that tSB staff members do behind the scenes to allow the youth, Peer Leaders, Prophets, and Winterns alike, to have so much of their voice reflected in the way the Service Board as an organization runs and spreads its message.
