Asma “Ayşenur” (she/her) is an MSW student at the University of Washington and is completing her practicum with tSB. She chose tSB because its mission of youth empowerment, community care, and healing-centered engagement directly aligns with her goals as an emerging social worker.
Asma earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Washington, where she built a strong foundation in mental health, youth development, and community-centered practice. She is a social and community-oriented person whose interests include mental health, culturally responsive support, and helping individuals navigate and break through the barriers and forms of oppression that shape their lives.
In addition to her practicum, Asma volunteers with Peyvand, a community organization focused on uplifting immigrant and refugee youth. Through her work with Peyvand, she supports young people in building confidence, connection, and a sense of belonging—values that strongly complement her role at tSB.
Originally from Central Asia, Asma brings a cross-cultural perspective shaped by her lived experience as an Afghan youth navigating displacement and resilience. She often reflects on how she supported herself in reaching the opportunities she once hoped for, and she is committed to helping young people move toward their own goals with confidence and dignity.
Outside of tSB, Asma enjoys tea, drawing, writing, hiking, and spending time outdoors. She loves animals, food, and crochet—activities that help her stay grounded, express creativity, and connect with community. Whether through art, nature, or time outside, she values practices that bring healing and balance, which she carries into her work with youth.
