Matthew (he/him) joined tSB in October of 2024 as an MSW (Master of Social Work) intern for his first year of practicum with the University of Washington School of Social Work. He received his bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Washington in 2022. After graduating, Matthew worked as an outreach case manager for a young adult homeless shelter in Auburn, a rehabilitation counselor at Echo Glen Children’s Center in Snoqualmie, and then a therapeutic foster care case manager at Friends of Youth in Renton.

Matthew is pursuing his MSW with a clinical track. Upon graduating from the program, he hopes to get his clinical license and practice as a therapist with juvenile youth. He also hopes to become involved with policy, either at the government or non-profit administrative level. Matthew loves the idea of movement as therapy. An avid music festival attendee, he has felt the therapeutic release of simply dancing and moving his body in ways to process through trauma and anxiety.

Matthew was born in Southern California but grew up in Eastern Washington. He loves Seattle and enjoys its many outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, and swimming in the different lakes in the area. (He LOVES beaches too). However, in much of his free time, when the weather doesn’t permit outdoor activities, he likes to read, write, DJ, cook, and box. Outside of work or school, you’ll catch him at his favorite place, the Gorge Amphitheater, attending local concerts or raves, and podcasting.
