Flight Test Engineer – Boeing
Mike (he/him) is new to tSBoard as of 2023 and is honored to continue the tSB mission of empowering our youth through culturally relevant – and necessary – programming. After joining tSB in 2020, he supported as a snowboard instructor before taking 2023 off to grow his family with his loving partner and newborn child. As a new father, he was constantly reminded of the importance of programs such as tSB which provide a safe space to develop lifelong values of social justice, service, community, and of course outdoor adventure.
As a 2nd generation Filipino American, his family felt the importance of both hard work and community in a new country – but never had access to the outdoors for financial and cultural reasons. After moving to the PNW in 2011, he was finally able to connect with the natural world with a lens of healing and joy through activities like snowboarding, surfing, climbing, and mountain biking. Since fostering that connection, he has always sought to share his experiences back to his community. He has had the honor of volunteering with organizations such as Climbers of Color, Vertical Generation, International Rescue Committee, and the North West Avalanche Center as a mentor, instructor, photographer, board member, and executive director. He’s also built deep roots in the outdoor industry as a climber and snowboarder. Mike is excited bring this experience as he begins his new chapter on the tSBoard of Directors and looks forward to the growth to come!
