Shona (she/her) is a So-Cal native who traded sunny beaches for a preferred lifestyle of trees and gloom coziness in the Pacific Northwest. She gladly joined tSB as Program Manager in November 2020, bringing outdoor recreation management experience (and stoke) from her previous role at an adaptive outdoor organization. She passionately believes being in the outdoors and engaging with nature offers healthful restorative benefits for folx of all backgrounds and identities. She has a passion for inclusion and accessibility and has always worked towards empowering people with disabilities across various fields.
Shona graduated from the University of Oregon in 2016 with a B.A. in Political Science, with minors in Special Education and Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies. While living in Bend and hearing about Oregon Adaptive Sports in 2017, she began taking steps towards becoming a volunteer ski instructor and delivering downhill lessons to people of various abilities. This deep love of winter programming may have started at OAS but has only gotten larger over time.
Shona enjoys any and all outdoor pursuits and finds the highest caliber of joy when she is rock climbing, skiing, swimming, or hiking. When she’s not working or playing, you can find Shona amongst her numerous houseplants with a good non-fiction book, her cat, and a lavender latte in hand.
